ABC's of Christmas days 10-19

Are you guys ready for another post about the ABC’s of Christmas by Creative Faith Co.? Y’all I am absolutely loving this devotional. It has been really great to focus on other parts of Christmas instead of the traditional advent devotional. I have been loving coming home after work and doing it for doing it in the morning to start of the day. For today, I give you days 10-19 of ABC’s of Christmas

J was for Jingle Bells. It was talking about how we should be making noise for the Lord. It tells us that no matter what situation you are in, you should still sing for God. There is always a reason to praise God even in the sucky season of life. The challenge was to find some jingle bells and shake them to listen to the ringing. Then to paint or draw what you hear.

K was for Kindness. It talked about giving other people blessings. Hilary talks about putting together gift baskets for the people at the post office she frequents to show her appreciation. God tells us that we need to love those around us, even the strangers that we do not know. God loves us so we should show His love and kindness to those who are surrounding us. There challenge was to create or draw a necklace with the word kindness on it.

L was for Lonely. This day talked about how it was probably pretty lonely for Mary when she found out about being pregnant and when she and Joseph journeyed to Bethlehem. Mary did not have anyone there. It was Joseph’s family. Hilary suggests that there was probably not a lot of help for Mary when she gave birth because she was the one who wrapped Jesus in cloth and put him in the manger. The challenge of this day was to journal about loneliness.

M was for movies. It talks about secret lessons from God. She talks about the movie Home Alone and connects it to the 400 years of silence in the middle of the Old and New testaments. No one had heard from God and then all of a sudden, in Luke 1, they hear from Him again. It talks about forgetting things and to take time to just remember God. A question it asks is “Do you feel like God has forgotten you?” It talks about then stopping and praying to ask God to remind you of His presence.

N was for notes. It talked about taking time to thank not only God but the people around us. It talked about writing actual thank you notes. It mentions how Zechariah questioned the angel about his wife being present where Elizabeth did not. She praised and thanked God for giving her this child. A thing to do for this was to write and thank you note to God that expresses gratitude to Him for everything you have received from Him.

O was for offenses. This day talked about the crown of thorns and how the soldiers mocked Jesus. It talked about how the crown of thorns is symbolized by the wreaths we put out. And how it was actually a crown of love, it represents how God has chosen us and loves us. One thing to do for this day was to make your own wreath for this year instead of buying one.

P was for Perfectly imperfect. It talked about letting go of perfection this year. It explains that most of the time, when we are striving for perfection, it is because we are striving to please other people, not God. The challenge of the day was to use stamps, stickers, or hand lettering for the phrase “Let Go” on a page.

Q was for quest. It talked about journeying with God the journeys that Mary and Joseph took were mentioned on this day. A thing it mentioned was that Mary and Joseph most likely learned a lot more about each other on these journeys. One thing it talks about is that it doesn’t matter what journey you are on because Jesus is there walking it along side of you. He is always there with you are you are journeying. God uses these quests to bring us closer to Him and teach us different things. A question the devotion asked was “What quest or journey does Jesus have you on right now?” It mentions the idea of drawing a road and thinking about how you can keep on the course while keeping your eyes on Jesus.

R was for rejoice. Hilary talks about attending a extra special workshop with the high school dance team. They would teach the younger kids a dance for Christmas. One year, she said they danced to “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” and actually dance around a Christmas tree. She later was on the dance team and created the dancer for those who were younger. She ties this to 2 Samuel 6:13-16 when David is dancing with all he has for God. It mentions that David’s wife did not like this, she most likely did not understand. Something to do for this day was to list reasons why you should be joyful during this December.

S was for Snowflake. It talked about how we are uniquely made just like a snowflake is. No two snowflakes are exactly alike. No two people are exactly alike. There will always be differences between you and someone else. We should be proud of these differences because God created us this way and He made us beautifully unique. One this to do for today was to cut out a snowflake and write down the traits God has given you that makes you unique.

Well, this has been fun! Come back either next Wednesday or Thursday for days 20-26.
