Life Can Be Hard

Life can be hard sometimes. Maybe you get that devastating news that someone you love is sick. Maybe you were passed up for that promotion again. Maybe you were doing so good but your depression has come creeping back in. Maybe you just lost a loved one. Whatever it may be, you are not alone.

Life is something that always involves struggles. I doubt that anyone in the world can stay that they have had no struggles. Even Jesus, the son of God mind you, had struggles. He had the ultimate amount of struggles. He dealt with so much more than what we will struggle with. But that doesn’t mean our struggles don’t count.

We all struggle in different ways. Some more than others. Just because your struggles are different than someone else’s, it doesn’t mean yours don’t count or matter. Your struggles can be just as bad as someone else’s even when they are different. Telling yourself that someone has it worse, while it is true, doesn’t validate your feelings. Your struggles and feelings are valid. Everyone deals with struggles and no two are the same.

One thing about our struggles is that we will never be given more than we can handle with God. (1 Corinthians 10:13) Key words, with God. Without God, life is too much to handle and hard to survive. With God, anything is possible. You can get through the toughest of struggles with God.

We can be the most faithful of servants and we will still deal with struggles. It is just how life is. everyone has struggles. You should not be ashamed of your own because they look different than someone else’s. It’s so easy to look at your struggles and think that they are too much but they aren’t enough that you should complain about them because people are dealing with worse.

It's hard to see people going through struggles and thinking their feelings are invalid. It’s easy to feel that way in the middle of your struggles though. I know I have felt that way. “Why is mine so bad when these people are dealing with worse.” “I have no reason to be feeling this way, compared to them, my life is peaches and unicorns.”

Feeling like your feelings don’t matter is hard. You feel like there is no reason for you to be feeling the way you do because someone else has it worse. Just because someone has it worse doesn’t mean your feelings are not valid. It doesn’t mean you can’t talk about how hard your struggles are currently.

Life is hard. It always has been and always will be until God comes back. It’s okay if life is hard for you right now it’s okay if life is going well for you right now. Don’t let anyone or even yourself invalidate your feelings.
