Memorial Day

I can vividly remember the last time my dad came back from war. People were crying. People were cheering.

Memorial Day is a day that means a lot to people who have been in the service or people who has had family in the military. This is because it is a day to honor those we have lost by them being the brave. We have lost a lot of brave souls through war and that is a day to honor them.

Memorial Day is not supposed to be about the barbecues and the sales. No! It is supposed to be about the people who we have lost through the cruelness of war. Not everyone is lucky enough to make it. Those people are fighting for us instead of being with their families.

People often take that for granted. They take the fact that they don’t have to be in the service for granted. They take the fact that they have their sons, daughters, mom, dad, etc. for holidays for granted instead of being upset at the fact that they are halfway across the world.

I remember times when my dad was not home because he was fighting. I know times when what happened in Iraq upsets him out of the blue. Do not take your family for granted. Do not take the fact that there are people being killed fighting for your freedom for granted.

Remember that memorial day is not just for barbecues and good sales. It is really for remembering those brave souls who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
