I was listening to a podcast today and something was said that I think is really important. I am listening to Girls Night with Stephanie May Wilson episode #92 with Gretchen Saffles from Well Watered Women and Gretchen said something very important. They we talking about quiet times and how when you first hear about quiet time, you think it has to be quiet during that time. But that’s not true. Gretchen said “you can meet with Jesus even when it’s loud and chaotic around you.” This is really important! Its saying just because its not quiet doesn’t mean you can’t spend time with God. Gretchen was talking about how when she was in college and staying in a complex with 8 other women, it was never quiet. And that it is not quiet now in her life with her 2 kids. But she still has time to spend with God. She still has quiet times. This is important. There are so many people with that some assumption that if it’s not quiet, can you really have quiet times and the answer is yes. Quiet times look different for everyone. Quiet times aren’t always going to be quiet. Sometimes it will be but sometimes everyone in your house will be home and playing video games and being loud or maybe you have kids and they’re up when you get up or you’re in a house with 10 other people and its never quiet. You can still have that quiet time. You can still spend time with God. It is super important to spend time with God. You can’t have a relationship with someone if you don’t spend time with them. And God doesn’t just want you to follow His “religion”. No! He wants a relationship with you. That’s the difference between God and other gods. God wants a relationship with you, the other gods don’t. It doesn’t matter what the time looks like, all that matters is that you are spending time with God. Maybe it’s reading your bible while your kids are doing their schoolwork. Maybe it’s using paints and stamps to have a sense of expression as you are dwelling and putting the Word on your heart. Maybe it’s having a cup of coffee and sitting on your back deck in the morning with your bible open. It could be anything. This is a time to make your own. You make time for things that are important to you. This should be important to you. Today, spend time with God in a way that feels most like you! Hold onto Hope and stay strong. Madison Rae <3
