“You’re worthless.”
“Why are you even trying?”
“You’re stupid.”
“You’re an idiot.”
Do you guys ever get the condescending thoughts in your head? Thoughts that aren’t helpful and won’t get you very far? Those thoughts are ones that we should be conscious about. We should pay attention when we battle with these thoughts. We should not listen to them but we should notice them.
We need to notice these thoughts so that we can take it captive. We need to take it captive and replace it with truth. The thoughts that are not truth need to be replaced with truth. This can be a little tricky to do, but you’ll get the hang of it. It’s important to call those thoughts out and remind ourselves that they are not true and replace them with truth.
We need to be aware of the thoughts that we are having. They could be lies and we are not supposed to believe lies. Sometimes it’s hard to pick out what is true and what is not, especially if you’re in the depths of depression. The best way to be doing this is to compare your thoughts with the Bible.
Example: “I’m worthless.” Can be turned into “I was fearfully and wonderfully made.”
“I am chosen.” “I am loved.”
The Bible has something that will combat every lie. We need to rely on The Word and God instead of our mind. The devil likes to play mind tricks and the easiest was to combat them is by reading and listening to the Bible for truths and not the world or your mind.
Taking captive every thought is not the easiest things ever. In fact at first it is pretty hard but you eventually get better and better at doing this.
Remember to take captive every thought and listen to the Bible for truth.
