The anchor. The anchor is something that has been used to represent hope. In Hebrews 6 it talks about an anchor in verse 19. It says “this hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls…” The anchor is used to represent hope.
Maybe today you are going through stormy weather. You feel like you are on a boat in the middle of the ocean with crazy waves and storms everywhere. You feel like there is nothing more you can do to get out of the position you are in. You feel like there is no hope and your ship and you are bound for destruction.
Maybe today you need something to hold onto. Maybe you are really struggling with something you and feel like there is no hope and you will never get better. You feel like you are stuck in this cycle. The cycle of realizing there’s a problem, doing something about it, getting clean, then getting caught in the relapse phase again. That is okay. You just need to work on getting out of there.
There is a hope. This hope has a name. His name is Jesus. This hope came down to earth, lived a sinless life, and died for your sins before you were even born. But He didn’t stay dead. Nope. He rose to life again 3 days later. He conquered sin and death. He defeated the enemy. He defeated death.
He came to give you a hope. An everlasting hope. A hope you can always hang onto. When things get tough, its really easy to feel hopeless. It’s really easy to feel like you are all alone. It’s really easy to fall into the thought pattern that everyone would be better off without you and that you have no purpose when you feel like there is no hope.
Jesus is hope. He was hope brought down to earth. He is hope. He is the one we should hang onto. He is our anchor.
When there are stormy seas, Jesus is our anchor. He will be there to hold us steady. He will be there to hold us in place when everything around us feels lost and without hope. He will be there to steady the ground you walk on.
Psalm 42:5 says “why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise Him again…”
God is where we should be putting our hope. God and Jesus. There are the only things that will last forever. Everything in this world will fade. God is the only thing that will stay. They are the only constant in this life. They are the only ones who will not fail you. They are the only ones who will not leave or abandon you.
I started this post talking about anchors. Today make Jesus your anchor. Put your hope in the Ones who will get you through anything. Yes there will be trials and hard times. Yes there will be times you want to give up. But They are faithful. They will stay by your side through it all.
Hold onto hope and stay strong.
