One of my absolute favorite songs is called The Last Night by Skillet. I know this is a lot of Skillet fans favorite song. This song has so much meaning behind it.
I know a lot of people who struggle with depression, myself included. And that is okay as long as we don’t let it take control of us. I know people who battle or has battled with self harm and suicidal thoughts. These people are so strong in my opinion.
This song is about a girl who had been self harming and finally decided enough is enough. She was tired of living. She was going to commit suicide. She goes to her friend and tells him that it is her last night. And he gets to tell her something.
He tells her that this will not be her last night. He gets to tell her that she is not alone even when her parents are hard on her. She is told that it is her last night alone.
This song has an incredible story. A story that can be resinated with by a lot of people. Me included.
I know a lot of us will, has, or are battling with depression. This can be a hard time. But we don’t have to go through it alone. We can go through it with someone else. That someone else is Jesus Christ. He and His father will help us get through so much.
Yes we do get people on this earth who will help us through the hard times but we also have to look at the ones above. God is there for us. He is there on our darkest nights and brightest days. He will get you through whatever you are going through.
Sometimes it will take effort. Sometimes it will take strength. It will take us being strong. It will also take us asking for help. We need to ask for help when depression hits a certain point and it feels like we will never be free from it. God places people in our lives to help us. We have to accept it.
Maybe you are reading this and you are seriously struggling with something. If this is you please reach out and get help. Do not do life alone. Do not go through this alone. I’ve tried that and I will tell you it is seriously not worth going through alone. For one, you have God. For two, you have incredible people placed in your life at the right time to help you get through what you are going through. If you are seriously struggling, please reach out.
This will not be your last night. You do not have to go through this alone. You can get through this. You are stronger than you think. You’ve got this. I believe in you.
