Why Do I Bible Journal

Why do I bible journal?

Bible journaling can be controversial. This is because people do no think that it is okay to write in a bible let alone paint and more.

I can see where they are coming from. The bible is a holy book. It is something that we are meant to cherish with our lives. It is something that gives us a way to listen to God.

Why do I journal and more in it if it is something that is supposed to be cherished?

The answer is simple. It is my way to understand God’s word and to worship Him. For me, bible journaling is my way to communicate with God and to understand His word. It is a way for me to give Him all the praise and the glory.

A lot of people think that it is not okay to do what I do in bibles. I paint, doodle, sticker, and more. Its okay that people do not think what I do is okay. It is not for everyone. My bible is for me and for God. It is for us to communicate back and forth. It is not to appease anyone. It is not to give someone something to look at. Yes I do let people look at my journaling bibles but it is not for anyone else.

Yes I can dissect that word. Yes I can write actual notes on what I am reading. But sometimes that just doesn’t work for me. That doesn’t always fill me up. To be honest, sometimes that pushes me away and makes me not want to read my bible.

There is no direct way for someone to read the Bible. There is no reason for anyone to be criticized for how the read and understand God’s word. We have the freedom to understand the word in a way that makes it easy for us to understand.

Now heres another thing. Some people who start bible journaling worship the creation instead of the creator. I have fallen into this but when I do, I know that it means it is time for me to take a break and do something else for a little while. All that truly matters is that you are spending time with God and worship Him.
