June 2022 Favorites

I totally did not do May favorites but I thought I would do June! So here we go

Nightmare Before Christmas

My love for this movie is back and I think I “watched” (aka listened) to it at least 4 times. Something about this movie makes me feel better. I love being able to connect it to my faith in a way. If you ever want to hear about how I can relate NBC to faith, let me know!

Frosted Flakes

I know this is silly but so far my favorite food this month has been frosted flakes. I randomly started eating them again and have almost gone through 2 boxes since the beginning of the month. They are super nice in the mornings before work to just munch on something before I clock in. They are also super great at night when I want something light to eat.

Fix Your Eyes by Amy Gannett

This book is so good. I am so happy that I saw it at the store and decided to get it. I am almost done and the amount of things I have learned about God and theology and how your theology should fuel your doxology, so good!! I would 10/10 recommend this book if you want to learn more about basic theology. I am excited to continue to read it and learn more!

Love Thy Body by Nancy Pearcey

I am currently reading this book for a book study at young adults. It is so good and eye opening. Some of the statistics and things in it are really mind blowing. This book touches on both the world view and the christian view on things like abortion, hookup culture, person euthansia, assisted suicide, transgenderism, and a few others. This book has been challenging to read but in the best way possible. I have really enjoyed learning about these things in a way to accurately bring the gospel to people.

Kitchen Table

I just bought a kitchen table (literally yesterday) but so far this is my favorite thing. I made some disney placemats and am excited to make more for the seasons or just when I want a change. There was something so cool about sewing on my kitchen table for the first time. I learned how to use a sewing machine when I was about 8 on the kitchen table in the house I grew up in in California so being able to sew on my own table was kind of like a circle closing and was really cool. Definitely took me back to learning how to sew.

Stickers

I just bought a clear case for my macbook in order to be able to put stickers on it. I am so excited to be able to personalize it in this way. I know people have done this for forever, I just never really thought it was my vibe but that is the best place to put stickers to keep for a while. I am excited to get all of my stickers in and see how it turns out!

It’s okay to struggle but you can’t stay there

I kind of talked about this in my last blog post, but for so long I kind of made some of my trauma my identity. I said this is who I am and I can’t change it. But that is not true and I am currently in the process of healing from some of my trauma and it is scary but oh so amazing.

You don’t have to be on social media all the time

This is, I think, a hard lesson for anyone in my generation to learn. My generation basically grew up with social media really coming up. I got facebook when I was 10/11 and instagram when I was 13. I had twitter when I was 12. Our teen years were spent on developing social media sites. It is really easy to get wrapped up on social media. It is really easy to spend hours upon hours scrolling on these sights. Things like tik tok have made it worse because you literally just scroll and don't realize how much time has passed. I put limits on my social media apps on my phone but it also is so easy to just ignore them because all you have to do is hit a button to ignore time. But there is so much more to life than just social media. There is spending time outdoors or spending time in person with people rather than just seeing their lives on social media.
